The Amerex B570x is a rechargeable 30 lb Class D fire extinguisher specifically designed for fires involving combustible metals. It utilizes a special blended sodium chloride-based dry powder agent (Super D) that forms a crust over the burning metal, excluding oxygen and dissipating heat to extinguish the fire safely. The B570x is effective on fires involving magnesium, sodium, potassium, sodium-potassium alloys, and has demonstrated effectiveness on zirconium, uranium, titanium, and powdered aluminum fires. Its unique “soft flow” extension applicator allows controlled application while helping the operator maintain a safer distance from extreme heat and toxic fumes.
